MONMOUTH, Ill. — The Knox College men's and women's track and field teams returned to Monmouth for the Roger Haynes Invitational today, and a number of Prairie Fire athletes made large gains in their respective events.

Junior Lance Miller took home the gold in the men's 5000 meter run, breaking the school record by five seconds in the process with his time of 15:24.05. The second-place runner was a full 43 seconds off his pace. Miller now owns the Knox indoor records in the mile, the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters, plus ranks second in the 800 meters.

In the men's 60 meters, first-year Jayvon Bolds recorded a PR in the prelims with a time of 7.17 seconds, and then he bested that in the finals to place third overall in 7.12 seconds. He is now the eighth-fastest runner in the event in program history.

Senior Jacob Anderson nearly shaved a full quarter of a second off his best time in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the tape in 9.06 seconds to claim sixth place. That time boosted him from 10th to seventh on Knox's top-10 performer list.

In the women's 3000 meters, senior Franny Hilliard completed her laps in 11:31.88, dropping 14 seconds off her best previous time to place third overall. She also put her name on the Prairie Fire top-10 performer list with the eighth-best time.

In the field events, senior A.J. Vazquez stretched his best triple jump distance by another three inches to 43 feet, 3.25 inches (13.19 meters), good for third on this day.

The Knox 4x200 meter relay team consisting of Bolds, Anderson, Vazquez and first-year Chrisangel Djambazian finished fifth in the event with a time of 1:33.87, which also landed them with the eighth-best time on the program's top-10 performer list.

Knox will next compete in the IC Hilltop Classic hosted by Illinois College on Friday, Feb. 21, the final tune-up prior to the Midwest Conference Championships at Monmouth on Feb. 28-March 1.
