<p><b>ROCK ISLAND, Ill.</b> —
Lance Miller claimed the gold in the men's 1500 meters to highlight the performances by the Knox College men's and women's track and field teams at the Viking Olympics hosted by Augustana College on a chilly and windy Saturday. The men completed the events with 39 points while the women got three thanks to their 4x400 meter relay team.</p>
<p>Miller finished his the 1500 meters in 4:02.09, just outpacing Dylan Grandon of St. Ambrose, who crossed the tape in 4:02.46.</p>
<p>Seniors
A.J. Vazquez and
Jacob Anderson both provided a pair of top-five finishes for the Prairie Fire as well. Vazquez took third in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.99 meters (42 feet 7.5 inches) to land on the podium, as well as fifth in the long jump at 6.31 meters (20 feet 8.5 inches).</p>
<p>Anderson, meanwhile, took fifth in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. His time of 16.15 seconds in the former also landed him on Knox's all-time top-10 performers list with the eighth-best time.</p>
<p>Two other athletes narrowly missed out on scoring, finishing ninth in their respective events. Sophomore
Stephanie Nelson flung the discus 35.42 meters (116 feet 2 inches), which is the seventh furthest every by a Prairie Fire woman, and first-year
Chrisangel Djambazian finished the men's 400 meters in 53.06 seconds.</p>
<p>The men had two relay teams finish among the top four as well with the 4x100 meter team, consisting of first-year Javon Bolds, Anderson, Djambazian and fifth-year
Eusebio King-Mills, placing third in 44.00 seconds. The 4x400 meter squad made up of King-Mills, Miller, Vazquez and Djambazian took fourth in 3:38.19.</p>
<p>The women's 4x400 relay team that finished sixth was comprised of sophomore
Cecilia Goodin, senior
Franny Hilliard, junior
Eileen Sheetz and first-year
Mary Stockdale.</p>
<p>The track and field teams compete against on Friday and Saturday, April 11-12 at Mount Mercy University for the Mustang Distance Carnival and Open.</p>
