GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference office announced its Performers of the Week in women's soccer this afternoon, and Knox College sophomore Darby Wallig took home the defensive honor for the second time this year after allowing just one goal over two games. This is the third time in her career she has earned this award.

A native of Wendell, North Carolina, Wallig began the week by registering her fourth consecutive shutout in a 4-0 road victory at Eureka. She then stretched her total minutes without surrendering a goal to over 400 before Carthage ended the streak with a goal in the 18th minute of the match on Saturday. Wallig took that as a personal offense and made eight saves the remainder of the game, keeping the Prairie Fire close throughout an eventual 1-0 defeat that snapped a four-game unbeaten streak.

Wallig has played more minutes in goal than any other keeper in the Midwest Conference thus far (625:52) as well as more shutouts (4), and is third in both goals against average (1.01) and save percentage (.833).

Knox (3-3-1) returns to action at Jorge Prats Field on Wednesday, Sept. 24 when Illinois Wesleyan University (4-3) invades the Prairie Fire home pitch. The match will be streamed live with live stats available through PrairieFire.Knox.edu, the official website of Knox College Athletics.
