It was a clean sweep for the Knox College men's and women's indoor track and field teams when it came to Midwest Conference Athlete of the Week honors.
The Prairie Fire claimed all four top spots, earning the honors for the week.
In women's field events, Zoe Thunhurst took home the top spot. At Saturday's St. Ambrose Battle in the Hive meet, Thunhurst won the women's long jump with a best effort of 15 feet, 0.75 inches (4.59 meters). In the shot put, Thunhurst's 33-9 feet (10.29 meters) earned her third place. This mark ties for the 10th-best in program history.
In her first collegiate indoor meet, Elsie Conwell made a name for herself and earned a conference award. Conwell ran a top-10 time, winning the mile in 5:35.51 at the St. Ambrose Battle in the Hive. Conwell's time ranks the fifth-fastest in women's program history.
On the men's side, Lance Miller led the way on the track, capturing top honors. Miller looked in midseason form, winning the mile in 4:19.23 on Saturday. Miller's time is only 3 seconds off his program record pace. Miller added a second-place finish in the 800 to that performance. Miller covered the track in 1:58.99, nearly one second off school-record pace and less than .25 seconds behind his career best. Miller's time in the mile is currently No. 9 in Division III and is leading the conference.
In the field, Stevan Dzolic completed the Prairie Fire sweep, earning Athlete of the Week honors.
Dzolic finished second on Saturday in the weight throw with a best toss of 47 feet (14.32 meters). The distance is only a few inches behind his career best from last season.
