LAKE FOREST, ILLINOIS – Knox College women's basketball (3-8 overall, 3-1 Midwest Conference) earned a decisive 74-44 win at Lake Forest on Saturday, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Knox asserted control early, leading 18-8 after one quarter, with Lake Forest's only lead at 3-2. The Prairie Fire extended their advantage to 38-22 at halftime and broke the game open in the third, outscoring the Foresters 28-9 to lead 66-31. In the final period, Knox held their largest margin, leading by 40 points (71-31).
Contributions throughout the lineup powered Knox, led by Bria Medina's 23 points. Medina nearly tallied a triple-double, adding eight rebounds and eight assists. Nayeli Nidez Acuña and Izzy Robinson each had 14 points, while Kylee Callahan scored nine and Brook Pieper added seven. Callahan chipped in four blocks, and Nidez Acuña collected three steals. Carly Smith rounded out the effort with five points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
The Prairie Fire defense was on point, forcing 23 Forester turnovers and holding Lake Forest to 16-61 (26.2 percent) shooting.
Knox capitalized on turnovers, scoring 20 points off them and adding 17 in transition.
