BLUFFTON, OH - The Prairie Fire took advantage of day-to-day improvements to help them place 14th at the Beaver Fall Classic at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.
Â
Robert Pierson led the way for the Prairie Fire as he posted rounds of 82 and 81 in the two-day event. He finished tied for 43rd in the 15 team event. During his second round, Pierson played a clean front nine with only two bogeys, and picked up a birdie on the back nine.
Â
Adam Dominowski was next in line for Knox as his day two adjustments launched him up the leaderboard by 12 spots. He had an impressive day, posting Knox's lowest round of the weekend with a 79.
Â
Bryce Gillock saw the biggest change in scores from day one to day two as his score dropped by 12 strokes. He moved 12 spots up on the leaderboard as he posted an 80 during his second round.
Â
Nathaniel Zug finished one spot above Gillock on the leaderboard as he saw his best day on day one when he shot an 83.
Â
As a squad, the Prairie Fire held a five stroke lead over one of the Bluffton teams heading into the second round. Knox was able to hold on to their lead and extend it by another three strokes to bring home 14th place.
Â
Coach Preston Roth said, "I was happy to get the whole team on the road to compete this weekend, I just wish it went a little more our way. The difficult golf course and tough pin locations did not put us in the best position to move up the leaderboard after a disappointing first round. The team is very excited to get back to campus and get back to work in preparation for our final fall event of the year at Soangetaha Country Club. I am looking forward to seeing how they bounce back from a little adversity."
Â
The Prairie Fire will be back on the course for the Prairie Fire Invitational on Oct. 24 and 25 at Soangetaha Country Club.
