Prairie Fire Finish Sixth at SLIAC Meet

The Knox College men's golf team had a strong performance at the three-round, three-day SLIAC Meet, held at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois.

The Prairie Fire finished sixth in the 13-team event, carding a three-day total of +52.

Knox began the tournament on Sunday with a +20. Building on that start, the Prairie Fire then delivered their best team round of the season, firing a 295 (+7), which ranked among the better team scores in the event. The tournament wrapped up on Wednesday with Knox posting a +25 in the final round.

Pranav Nandakumar led Knox with an all-around balanced tournament, finishing tied for sixth overall and shooting a +4. His scores were 73-74-73–220 on the par 72 course.

Gabriel Newman was next for Knox, finishing tied for 14th at +9. On fire in the first round, he tied for the lead after 18 holes with a -2 70, then followed with scores of 76 and 79.

Saransh Raina gave Knox a third golfer in the top 20, tying for 18th with a three-round total of +12. He shot a 78 on the first day, then gathered himself for a 73 on day two, and completed the tournament with a 77 for a 228.

Nathaniel Zug was next for Knox, finishing in 42nd. After shooting an 87 on the first day, Zug turned things around in the second round with an even par 72 before closing out his tournament with an 84.

Jaxson Forman finished Knox's run with a +65, good for 56th place. Forman shot rounds of 90, 95, and 96.
