The Knox College baseball team dropped its opening two games at the Russ Matt Central Florida Invitational on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In Tuesday night's opener, the Prairie Fire (1-8) fell to Hamilton College 16-3 in seven innings. On Wednesday, Knox lost to Macalester College, 8-1.
Knox next faces Simpson College in a Thursday doubleheader.
In Tuesday's loss, the team scored at least one run in the game's first six innings, leading 16-1 after six. Miles Hoops paced the Knox offense with two hits and two RBI, while Hayden Derlein had a hit and an RBI. Tyler Kemp scored a pair of runs for Knox.
In Wednesday's game, Knox fell behind early as Macalester scored three in the first and single runs in the second and third innings. Hoops again paced the offense with two hits. Owen Shannon had Knox's lone RBI while Parker Engel scored the Prairie Fire's lone run.
