Knox College track and field had a strong night at the Monmouth Thursday Twilight Meet, highlighted by thrower Stephanie Nelson's historic performance.

Nelson set a new program record in the hammer throw, with a personal-best distance of 47.18 meters (154 feet, nine inches). Nelson's toss was more than eight feet better than the previous mark, which she held, and earned her a third-place finish. Nelson also finished seventh in the discus, with a best toss of 35.57 meters (116-08 feet).

Lance Miller claimed Knox's only event win, taking the 800 in 1:59.46—a season best and just a second off his career mark.

The Prairie Fire also posted several strong top-five finishes.

Ryan Lautzenhiser earned a fourth in the men's 400. Elsie Conwell had a personal best in the women's 800, running it in 2:28.58. Conwell's time is now the sixth-fastest in program history.

Stevan Dzolic also had a personal-best night, achieving his best mark in the hammer. Dzolic had a toss of 46.11 meters (151-03), which earned him seventh place in the meet and also placed him third all-time in Knox men's track and field history.

Elle Haddon finished fifth in women's javelin, her throw of 33.42 meters (109-07) ranking her second in program history.

Zoe Thunhurst also had a strong showing. Thunhurst placed eighth in the long jump (4.81 meters) and fifth in the triple jump (9.32 meters), but it was the women's shot where she made her own mark on the Prairie Fire record book. Thunhurst's throw of 10.92 meters (35-10 feet) ranked her seventh in the meet. The distance was a personal best, moving Thunhurst into sixth in program history.

The Prairie Fire are now off until Saturday, May 2, when they compete at the Fighting Scot Outdoor Invitational.
