MONMOUTH – The Knox College track and field team had a big day on Saturday at Monmouth, competing in the Fighting Scot Invitational. The Prairie Fire had a strong day, with many personal-best performances.
Following the impressive overall performance, Lance Miller led the team by winning the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.57.
Building on Miller's success, Ryan Lautzenhiser placed sixth in the men's 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.55 seconds.
Continuing the momentum, Lautzenhiser, along with Leland Tran, Kneko Vasquez, and Deangelo Willis, secured second place for Knox in the men's 4x100-meter relay.
Turning to the Knox women, Elsie Conwell improved her No. 5 time in the 3000 steeplechase by 16 seconds. Conwell finished third in the event, finishing in 12:30.31. Stephanie Nelson improved her No. 9 mark in the shot put with her outdoor best throw of 10.67 meters. Nelson was third in the hammer and seventh in the shot and discus. Elle Haddon added a third in javelin for the Knox field squad.
Looking ahead, the Prairie Fire next head to the Midwest Conference meet on Friday at Cornell.
