BLOOMINGTON, IL - Taking on the eighth ranked team in the region the Prairie Fire defense played a disciplined brand of soccer, keeping Illinois Wesleyan out of dangerous scoring areas in a 1-0 loss.
Analeis Ming took the first shot of the afternoon, but the Titans' goalkeeper was up to the test as she kept it out of the net.
Darby Wallig had an intense first half having to deny six shots to keep the game knotted at zero heading into halftime.
After the break, Wallig made a trio of saves before IWU was able to get one past her in the 80th minute of action.
The Prairie Fire were unable to get the ball in the back of the net of the eighth ranked team in the region as the Titans went on to win 1-0.
Wallig made nine saves in the afternoon and the 10 in front of her played an incredibly disciplined game, despite losing by one. The Prairie Fire have done a tremendous job throughout the season of keeping opposing teams from getting into dangerous scoring locations on the pitch and this game followed that trend.
Knox will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon when they host Ripon to open up Midwest Conference play at 1:30 p.m. at Jorge Prats Field.
