Knox College Prairie Fire

Puntoriero continued his breakout season with qualifying efforts in the 100 and 200 meter dashes on the first day of competition at the meet, hosted by Beloit College on May 10 and 11.

Puntoriero's time of 11.00 seconds in the 100 meters earned him the third seed going into the finals, while his time of 22.08 seconds in the 200 meters set him as the second seed.

Puntoriero, a senior, proved to be a strong competitor for the Prairie Fire in the finals.  He improved his time and placement in the 100 meters by finishing second in the field with a time of 10.95 seconds.

Puntoriero wasn’t finished yet.  He was the first to cross the finish line in the 200 meters and earned the conference championship in the event.  Puntoriero’s time of 22.02 seconds ranks third all-time in Knox outdoor track history in the 200 meter dash.

For his accomplishments on the track, Puntoriero was named an Outstanding Men’s Track Performer of the Meet, an honor conferred collectively by the conference’s head coaches.
