Lake Forest's women's soccer team remains perfect on the young season after shutting out Knox College 5-0.
The Foresters (2-0, 1-0 MWC) have outscored their first two opponents of the season 12-0 after beating Concordia University (IL) 7-0 earlier in the week.
Lake Forest jumped out to a 1-0 lead 8:56 into its first Midwest Conference match of the season when sophomore Lisa Sorensen scored. She would assist on the next two goals for the Foresters - one by junior Erica May at 45:55 and another by senior Bianca Greene in the 59th minute.
Knox (1-1, 0-1 MWC) trailed just 1-0 at the break despite being outshot 16-1. The visitors continued to fire a barrage of shots over the next 45 minutes, scoring four goals during that span. Sophomores Becky Esrock and Erica Davis added Lake Forest's final two goals at the 66:22 mark and 70:30 into the match.
First-year goal keeper Rachael Koene recorded 11 saves for the Prairie Fire. Only three Knox players were able to get off shots against the stiff LFC defense.
Knox tries to get back on track Sunday at 1 p.m. against Franklin College (2-0). The Grizzlies won at Eureka College 4-1 after Knox took down the Red Devils 3-2 in Wednesday's season opener.
