Men's Basketball Team Comes Up Short at Beloit

Beloit, WI - Junior Tanner Carlson (Annawan, IL, Annawan) followed up a triple-double on Friday night at Lawrence University with a career-high 28 points in the Prairie Fire's 75-67 Midwest Conference loss Saturday at Beloit College. 

Carlson did most of his damage at the foul line, where he was 16-of-18.  No other Knox player scored in double figures against the Buccaneers. 

Beloit (6-9, 5-5 MWC) led 33-31 at halftime on the strength of 5-of-10 three-point shooting.  The Bucs made only 7-of-22 shots from inside the 3-point line and shot 37.5 percent overall in the first half.  The Prairie Fire made 12-of-28 shots (43 percent) to stay close.

The Bucs heated up in the second half, connecting on 48 percent from the field, while Knox was unable to get on track -- shooting 36 percent over the final 20 minutes and 40 percent overall.  Beloit finished 8-of-16 from three-point range compared to 2-of-14 for the Prairie Fire (1-15, 0-11 MWC).

Michael Horton scored 24 points to lead Beloit and help the Buccaneers take both games this season from Knox.

The Prairie Fire meets Illinois College Saturday night at 7:00 at Memorial Gym.  The Blueboys (10-5, 6-4 MWC) are coming off of two tough losses of their own last Friday and Saturday. 

IC fell 81-78 at Carroll University and 91-82 in double overtime at #15 St. Norbert College.  The two losses dropped Illinois College's road record to 4-3 on the season.
