GALESBURG – The season may be over for the Knox College men's basketball team, but that does not mean people are done talking about the Prairie Fire.
On Thursday, Knox guard Josh Stewart was honored by the Midwest Conference, earning recognition on the league's second team.
Stewart helped lead Knox to its best conference finish since tying for fifth in the 2007-08 season. It was also the third time in the last 20 seasons the Prairie Fire had 10 or more wins overall, and the fourth time in the last 20 seasons the program had six or more league victories.
Stewart was ninth in the league scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game this season. His 758 minutes and 332 points ranked eighth, while his 123 field goals were eighth.
Stewart's largest contributions came on the glass. His 7.5 rebounds per game and 187 boards ranked third in the league. His 55 offensive rebounds, 2.2 offensive rebounds per game, and 5.3 defensive rebounds per game were fifth in the conference, and his 132 defensive rebounds were fourth. Stewart was also fifth in the league in total assists (74) and assists per game (3.0). His assist-to-turnover ratio was also fifth (1.0).
The Prairie Fire finished 10-15 overall and 6-10 in the league.
