The Prairie Fire had a tough time against regionally ranked Augustana College Wednesday night in Rock Island.

The Vikings earned their third straight shutout win by defeating Knox 9-0 in the non-conference match.  Augustana (9-4-1) is ranked #9 in the NSCAA Central Region.

Augie had a 50-1 shot advantage, including 27 on goal, against the Prairie Fire (2-8-1).  The Vikings have surrendered only seven goals by opponents in their last 11 matches and just 11 goals all season while scoring 34.

Augustana's Jessica Dodds scored her team's first goal 24 seconds into the contest for a 1-0 lead.  The Vikings added goals in the 16th, 24th, 28th, and 37th minutes and held a 5-0 advantage at the break.

Augie made it 6-0 with a score in the 48th minute.  Jenna Doyle, who along with Taylor Navarro had a pair of goals for the hosts, scored in the 74th and 80th minutes.  Navarro tallied the final goal at the 81:13 mark of the match.

Senior Emily Turner (Kildeer, Illinois) and sophomore Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, Minnesota) combined for 18 saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.

Knox (0-2-1 MWC) looks to rebound on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in a Midwest Conference match at Monmouth College. 

The contest features two of the top scorers in the MWC.  Junior Arielle Dorman (Bothell, Washington) is 5th in goals scored with eight and 4th in points per game with an average of 2.0.  Monmouth's Lauren Kellen is tied for 8th with six goals and 8th in points per game, averaging 1.25.

The Fighting Scots (4-6-2, 1-2-1 MWC) lost their last match 3-2 in double overtime in Monmouth on October 8 against Lawrence University (4-8-1, 1-3-1).  The Scots own a 3-4 record at home this season, including an 0-2 mark in league matches.
