The Prairie Fire was unable to move past Lake Forest College in the conference standings, losing 3-0 Saturday in the home finale at Jorge Prats Field.
Knox was looking for its second straight win after defeating Illinois College 1-0 at home on October 26. The Foresters (7-10, 3-5 MWC), after starting the season 5-1, had lost eight straight dating back to September 27.
The Prairie Fire (3-12-1, 1-6-1 MWC) would have passed LFC in the Midwest Conference standings with a win, but Lake Forest broke open a close match early in the second half while holding Knox without a goal.
The Foresters took a 1-0 lead when Courtenay Raymond scored off a corner kick 25:57 into the match. Lake Forest maintained the one goal advantage at the intermission.
LFC made it 2-0 on a goal by Emily Keast at 47:19. The final goal of the afternoon came at the 48:24 mark when Megan O'Connor's shot went in.
The Foresters outshot Knox 30-7 overall and 21-5 on goal. Senior Emily Turner (Kildeer, Illinois) and sophomore Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, Minnesota) combined for 18 saves in goal for the Fire.
Emily Turner, senior Claire Turner (Kildeer, Illinois), and their families were recognized before the match as part of Senior and Parents Day.
