Concordia University of Chicago broke a scoreless first half tie with a pair of goals in the second half Tuesday afternoon to beat the Prairie Fire 3-1 at Jorge Prats Field.

The loss is the first at home for Knox (2-3) this season and second straight after shutout victories last week against MacMurray College and Eureka College.  Culver-Stockton College downed the Prairie Fire 7-0 on September 10 to snap the two-game winning streak.

Knox was victimized by bad luck early in the match -- scoring its own goal at the 7:15 mark to give Concordia (3-1) a 1-0 lead.

Junior Arielle Dorman (Bothell, Washington), who was recently named the Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week, tied the match with her sixth goal of the season at 28:02.  The teams remained tied at 1-1 after 45 minutes of play.

Concordia took a 2-1 lead on a goal 72:30 into the match, then added an insurance goal at the 88:56 mark to earn the win.

Prairie Fire senior goalie Emily Turner (Kildeer, Illinois) had eight saves in just over 82:00 of action before she was replaced by sophomore Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, Minnesota).  Koene played the final 7:49 minding the net, recording one save and allowing one goal.

The Cougars outshot Knox 19-5 overall and 11-4 on goal.

The Prairie Fire tries to snap a two-match losing streak Thursday afternoon at home against Millikin University (3-0).  The contest is scheduled to begin at 4:00 at Jorge Prats Field, where Knox is 1-1 so far this season.
