Ripon, WI – The Prairie Fire fell behind early and never recovered in a 7-0 loss to Ripon College on Saturday in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams.

Ripon scored three goals in the first eight minutes of the match (4:21, 6:45, 7:43), then added another at 11:22 to lead 4-0 at the intermission.

The Red Hawks (3-1, 1-0 MWC) added three more goals – in the 74th, 83rd, and 84th minutes to close out the match against Knox (0-4, 0-1 MWC).

Ripon outshot the Prairie Fire 23-5 overall and 14-2 on goal.  Knox goalie, junior Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's), recorded seven saves in the loss.

The Prairie Fire looks to regroup with another MWC match on Sunday at Lawrence University.  The Vikings (2-4, 1-0 MWC) blanked Illinois College 3-0 on Saturday at home in their first league contest.
