Galesburg, IL – Lake Forest College prevented a Prairie Fire win on Homecoming and Senior Day at Jorge Prats Field on Saturday.

The Foresters (10-4, 5-2 MWC) came away with an 8-1 victory over Knox and now sit alone in fourth place in the Midwest Conference standings, and they're just one conference point behind third place Grinnell College.

Lake Forest scored the first goal 3:02 into the match for a 1-0 lead.  The Foresters added three more goals before intermission, one in the 12th minute and two in the 35th, to extend their advantage on the scoreboard to 4-0 at the break.

Lake Forest scored the first two goals after the intermission before Knox senior Brynn Cole (Corrales, NM, Bosque School) fired a shot that found the back of the net to trim the LFC lead to 6-1 at the 51:37 mark.

The Foresters led 7-1 after another goal in the 73rd minute and then scored for the last time in the 87th minute.

Senior Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's) had 11 saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.

Cole, Koene, and fellow seniors Raleigh DeRose (Peoria, IL, Notre Dame) and Kate Babington (Greencastle, IN, Greencastle) were recognized before the match, their last one of their college careers at home.

Knox (6-9, 0-7 MWC) plays at Carroll University on October 26 at 11:00.  The Pioneers (7-7, 4-3 MWC) lost to St. Norbert College 5-1 at home on Saturday.
