Women's Soccer Wins at Eureka

Eureka, IL – The Prairie Fire got back on track with an early goal and a strong defensive effort in a 1-0 road victory against Eureka College on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Nadia Tapfumaneyi (Harare, Zimbabwe, SOS-Hermann Gmeiner) scored 10:15 into the match on an assist by first-year Danielle Fraser (Northfield, IL, New Trier).  The Knox defense and senior goalie Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, MN, Benilde-St. Margaret's) made the lead hold up.

The Prairie Fire (6-7) made the most of their two shots on goal.  The Red Devils (3-8) outshot Knox 13-8 overall and all six shot attempts on goal by Eureka were hauled in by Koene, who recorded her second solo shutout of the season.

Senior Brynn Cole (Corrales, NM, Bosque School) and Tapfumaneyi combined for seven of the Prairie Fire's eight shots.

Knox concludes a busy week with a Midwest Conference match at St. Norbert College on October 13 at 11:00 a.m.

The Green Knights (8-3-1, 4-1 MWC) have won four of their last five, the latest a 6-0 victory against Beloit College in a match played in Green Bay, Wisconsin on October 5.  St. Norbert is unbeaten in six home dates so far this season (5-0-1).
