Galesburg, Ill. – The Prairie Fire fell behind early against Lawrence University and never got on track in a 92-47 Midwest Conference loss on Saturday at Memorial Gym.

The Vikings scored the first eight points of the game.  A jumper by senior David Jones (Denver, CO, Colorado Academy/Air Force Academy) put Knox on the board at the 15:42 mark.  A 3-pointer by first-year Marcellis Davis (Chicago, IL, Curie) trimmed the Lawrence lead to five at 10-5 about 1:30 later.

The Vikings (3-3, 2-1 MWC) scored 10 of the next 14 points for a 20-9 advantage.  The Prairie Fire were unable to close the gap to single digits the rest of the game.

Lawrence led by as many as 22 (42-20) with 2:26 left in the first half.  Knox trimmed the deficit to 42-27 on a trey by senior Eric Miller (Villa Park, IL, Willowbrook), but the Vikings responded with a 3-point bucket of their own with 28 seconds to go for a 45-27 halftime lead.

Lawrence shot 65 percent in the first half, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range.  The Prairie Fire hit 40 percent of their first half shots.  LU also held a 16-8 edge on the glass.

Another triple by Davis allowed Knox (1-7, 0-4 MWC) to pull within 18 of LU at 48-30 early in the second half.  The Vikings built the lead to 62-32 with a little over 13:00 to go and didn't look back.

Lawrence continued its red hot shooting after halftime, knocking down 64 percent from the floor and finishing the game 11-of-21 from behind the 3-point line.  The Prairie Fire managed only five field goals over the final 20 minutes and shot 31 percent overall.

Jones was the only Knox player to score in double figures with 10 points.  Davis and first-year Deandre Weathersby (Chicago, IL, Kenwood Academy) added eight points apiece while sophomore Charlie Harned (Webster Groves, MO, Clayton) had a team-high six rebounds for the Prairie Fire.

Knox begins a stretch of four straight road games on Monday against Milwaukee School of Engineering.  The non-conference contest against the Raiders is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m.
