Galesburg, IL – Lawrence University defeated the Prairie Fire 3-1 in a Midwest Conference match on Sunday at Jorge Prats Field.

The Vikings (2-4-0, 1-2 MWC) snapped a string of three straight losses.  Keli Muchowski was the main offensive threat for Lawrence, scoring all three of her team's goals.

The Vikings, who ended a string of three straight shutout losses, took a 1-0 lead on the first goal by Muchowski 20:18 into the contest.

The score remained 1-0 until Muchowski added her second goal at the 50:39 mark.

Knox (5-4-0, 0-2 MWC) cut the Lawrence lead in half on the first goal of the season by senior Raleigh DeRose (Peoria, IL, Notre Dame) – assisted by senior Brynn Cole (Corrales, NM, Bosque School) – at 59:52.

The Vikings extended the lead to 3-1 a little over six minutes later, resulting in a second straight setback for the Prairie Fire.
Lawrence held the edge in total shots 20-4.

First-year goalie Theresa Birzer (Fort Dodge, IA, Fort Dodge) had seven saves for Knox.

The Prairie Fire will try to get back in the win column at home against Cornell College on September 28 at 11:00 a.m.
