GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire opened the home portion of their schedule by defeating Eureka College 8-0 on Thursday at Jorge Prats Field.

Eight different players scored for Knox, which was on the attack from the start.  The hosts struck quickly when first-year Kelsie Pos (Salt Lake City, UT, Skyline) scored 53 seconds into the match for a 1-0 lead.

Senior Nadia Tapfumaneyi (Harare, Zimbabwe, SOS-Hermann Gmeiner) scored the second goal for the Prairie Fire at the 22:11 mark.  First-year Alyssa Stepanian (Island Lake, IL, Wauconda) followed with a goal at the 34th minute to give Knox a 3-0 lead at the intermission.

The Prairie Fire (1-3) continued the offensive flurry in the second half while preventing Eureka (0-5) from getting off a shot in the match.

Junior Madison Dana (Lafayette, CO, New Vista) scored the first goal after the break at 52:43 for a 4-0 lead.  Junior Sam Watkins (Des Moines, IA, Roosevelt) became the fifth Prairie Fire player with a goal at 64:53.  First-year Shea Pierce (Joliet, IL, Joliet West), sophomore Margaret Stanger (Madison, WI, Madison West), and first year Jacqlynn Milligan (St. Louis, MO, Visitation Academy) each found the back of the net as well in a 15 minute stretch leading up to the 81st minute.

Knox finished with 26 shots, including 17 on goal.

Stepanian, Milligan, and Pos also assisted on goals for the Prairie Fire.

Knox goes for a second straight win at Westminster College (MO) on Sunday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m.
