ST.PAUL, Minnesota—The Prairie Fire fell in straight sets to Macalester College and Carleton College on Friday at the ACM Tournament hosted by Macalester.  Knox (1-5) continues play in the tourney on Saturday against St. Olaf College at 9:00 a.m. and Luther College at 11:00 a.m.

Macalester 3Knox 0The Prairie Fire remained close in all three sets until a late run by Macalester in each. Knox trailed just 14-10 in the first set before Macalester went on an 11-8 run to close out the set 25-18. The Prairie Fire battled to another 14-10 deficit, but managed only 5 more scores in the second set to fall 25-15. In the third set Knox led 10-8 after a kill by sophomore
Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain), but could not hold on dropping the set 25-16. Senior
Casey Stachelski (Joliet, IL, Plainfield Central) led Knox with 12 assists while Griffin had team highs of 10 digs and six kills.

Carleton 3Knox 0Carleton held on to win the first set 25-18 after a 16-16 tie forced by a 4-0 Knox run due in large part to three kills by Griffin. In the second set the Prairie Fire trailed 11-10 but quickly fell behind 24-15. Knox made a late charge but ended up falling 25-18. The third set saw the Prairie Fire fall behind early and they were unable to recover ending at 25-14. Griffin tallied 18 kills and first-year
Rachael Powell (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence Central) added 26 assists. Junior
Madi Pierro (La Jolla, CA, Tri City Christian School) led the team with 14 digs.
