GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Beloit 3-1 on Friday night.

Knox (5-18, 2-4 MWC) took the first set 25-21 after being down 15-12 midway through the set. The Prairie Fire rattled off four straight points after a timeout. Knox again battled back from an early defecit in the second set reeling off five straight points to take a 15-12 lead. Beloit stormed back to force a 20-20 tie and take a 23-22 lead, but the Prairie Fire outlasted them 27-25. The Buccaneers used an early lead to take a 24-15 lead, but Knox failed to give in bringing the game to within four before falling 25-20. The Prairie Fire led throughout most of the third set and cruised to a 25-20 victory.

Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) led Knox with 20 kills, Keiyah Triplett (Chicago, IL, Westinghouse) picked up 41 digs, and Rachael Powell (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence Central) added 40 assists. Marissa Akers (Shelbyville, IN, Shelbyville) ended up with three blocks and Griffin managed four aces.

Knox returns to action when they host Ripon on October 22.
