GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team fell to Ripon 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Knox (5-19, 2-5 MWC) held an early lead in the first set, but Ripon stormed back to force an 8-8 tie and then an 11-8 lead. The Prairie Fire remained within two until the Red Hawks used a five point run to take a 20-14 lead. Ripon cruised to a 25-17 win in the first set. Two early four point runs helped the Red Hawks to an 8-3 lead in the second set. Knox threatened late when they ralied to a 20-18 deficit, but Ripon scored five of the last six points to take the set. The Prairie Fire held an early 3-0 lead, but the Red Hawks took a 10-6 lead and never looked back on the way to a 25-16 set victory.
Keiyah Triplett (Chicago, IL, Westinghouse) led Knox with 19 digs,
Rachael Powell (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence Central) tacked on 17 assists, and
Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) added 10 kills.
Knox returns to action on October 24 when they host Robert Morris-Springfield.
