MONMOUTH, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball squad claimed victory over conference rival Monmouth 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Knox (7-19, 3-5 MWC) and the Fighting Scots played close for much of the first set, but the Prairie Fire scored eight of the final ten points to take the set 25-18. Monmouth took an early 11-3 lead in the second set, but Knox stormed back and trailed 16-15 and 22-20 before falling 25-20. The Prairie Fire took a 10-5 lead in the third set, but the Fighting Scots came back to tie it up 13-13.  Knox regained control and earned a 25-21 third set win. In the fourth set, the Prairie Fire and Scots played to an early 5-5 tie. It was all Knox from there as they cruised to a 25-14 victory to clinch the match.

Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) led the Prairie Fire with 18 kills while Kyleigh Guthals (Clovis, NM, Clovis) chipped in 12 more.  Rachael Powell (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence Central) tacked on 38 assists and Keiyah Triplett (Chicago, IL, Westinghouse) added on to her conference-leading total with 30 more digs.

Knox returns home for their final contest of the season on October 28.
