ASHLAND, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire volleyball team suffered defeat at the hands of Wisconsin-Stout and Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday.
Knox (0-10) began the day with a 3-0 loss to the Blue Devils at the Northland College Tournament. Stout took an early lead over the Prairie Fire in the first set en route to a 25-15 victory. The Blue Devils again took an early lead in set two, but the Prairie Fire stormed back to force a 10-10 tie. Stout responded with a 5-0 run to retake the lead. Knox played from behind the rest of the match to fall 25-22. The Prairie Fire again battled in the final set, but the Blue Devils scored 10 of the last 13 points to win the match.
Emily Mosher (Glen Ellyn, IL, Glenbard West) led Knox with 24 assists in the match while
Keiyah Triplett (Chicago, IL, Westinghouse) added 16 digs.
Kyleigh Guthals (Clovis, NM, Clovis) ended up with 11 kills while
Rose Griffin (Maryland Heights, MO, Rosati-Kain) had 10.
Superior took an early lead in the first set against the Prairie Fire. Knox battled the entire way, but the Yellow Jackets closed the set out on a 6-2 run. The Prairie Fire were unable to get much going in the second set falling 25-14. The Yellow Jackets used two 4-0 runs to take the lead early in the third set and finish the match.
Mosher again led the Prairie Fire with 27 assists and Triplett managed 14 digs.
Maddie Byrne (Houston, TX, Clear Springs) finished with seven kills.
Knox returns to action next weekend at the North Park Classic.
