Volleyball Hosts #MarissaStrong Tournament

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team hosted the #MarissaStrong Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
 
Knox (4-9) lost all four matches in the tournament, but had some close calls in a few of the matches.
 
The Prairie Fire won the first set against Westminster 25-23, but fell 13-25, 18-25, 21-25 in the next three. After falling behind a set to Finlandia in the second game of the tournament, Knox won 25-19 in the second set. The Lions came back to win the third set, but the Prairie Fire forced a fifth set. Finlandia came away with a 15-13 victory in the final set to earn the win. Knox would face another five set match on Saturday morning with Olivet. After dropping the first set, the Prairie Fire won the next two to take a lead. The Comets won the final two set to take the match. Knox fell to Lincoln 11-25, 21-25, 19-25 in their final match.
 
Autumn Schneider led the Prairie Fire with 52 total kills for a .310 hitting percentage en route to making the all-tournament team. She also racked up eight solo blocks and seven block assists. Joining Schneider on the all-tournament team was Mady Ferris, who continued her torrid start to the season with 129 more digs. Kylie Wolf pitched in 75 assists and Katie Anderson added 28 kills. Marissa Akers put together a nice weekend as well, totaling 23 kills, three solo blocks, and five block assists.
 
Knox will look to get back on track on September 18 when they travel to MacMurray for their final tune-up before conference play.
