GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated MacMurray 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Knox and MacMurray played a tight first set with only a max score differences of three. Knox won the set 25-23 when Katie Anderson and Catessa Duran teamed up for a block.
The Prairie Fire took a lead early in the second set up 16-12, before the Highlanders came back to win the set 25-23.
The Prairie Fire won then won the third set 25-22 with a kill by Duran.
Then took the final set 25-22 with another kill by Duran.
Duran led Knox with 17 kills and seven blocks. Mady Ferris added 38 digs and Anderson notched 27 assists.
"I was very happy with how we came to play tonight," said head coach Pat Barry. "We faced a setback in the second set, but responded well and finished the third and fourth sets."
The Prairie Fire will host Lawrence University on October 4.
