GRINNELL, Iowa - The Prairie Fire volleyball team fell to Grinnell 3-0 on Friday night. 

Knox was ahead early in the first match with a 10-8 lead until the Pioneers went on two four-point runs gaining a 16-11 lead. The Prairie Fire fought hard the rest of the match, but Grinnell went on to win 25-21. 

Grinnell started the second match quick with a 9-6 lead before Knox went on a six-point run to take a 12-9 lead. The Pioneers then scored 16 of the next 20 points to take a quick 25-16 win. 

The Pioneers started the third match with the first four points before Knox closed the gap for a 3-4 deficit. It was not quite enough as Grinnell would slowly expand their lead throughout the set to win it 25-20. 

Catessa Duran led the Prairie Fire with nine kills and three blocks. Mady Ferris added 11 digs and Katie Anderson notched 10 digs and eight assists. 

"We played another strong conference team to a very tough match," said head coach Pat Barry. "We are very close to taking sets from some very strong teams these last few weeks."

Knox will be on the road on October 18 to take on Ripon College.
