Volleyball Claims Victory Over Lincoln Christian

GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Lincoln Christian 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
 
The Red Lions scored the first three points of the first set, but Knox came back quick scoring six straight. The Prairie Fire extended the gap early with six of the next eight points scored making the score 12-5. The Red Lions tried to battle back but were unable to do so as Knox took the first set 25-21.
 
Lincoln Christian came out strong with a 5-1 lead in the second set before the Prairie Fire were able to make a three and four point run to take the lead 8-7. The match was tight with five lead changes in a span of 11 scored points. The Red Lions came close with a five-point run late to tie the game at 24. Knox was able to pull out the much needed two points though to win 26-24.
 
The third and final set was close with four lead changes and a point differential of only three before Knox took an 18-15 lead and started to pull away. The match was kept tight until the end with neither team scoring more than two points at a time till the end of the set. The Prairie Fire won the set 25-21.
 
Mady Ferris racked up 36 assists, a career-high for her in a three set match. Catessa Duran, Katie Anderson, and Marissa Akers each notched six kills. Anderson also led the team with 13 assists. Autumn Schneider also added nine blocks on the night.
 
"This was a good win to put us back on track," said head coach Pat Barry. "We look forward to ending the season on a great note."
 
Knox will host Monmouth on October 24 as the Prairie Fire celebrate senior night.
