GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the second day of the #Strong Tournament.

Knox battled in both matches with a 1-3 loss to Central and a 2-3 loss to MacMurray.

The Prairie Fire dropped the first two sets to Central 18-25, 16-25 before winning the third set 25-19. The Dutch came back in the fourth set to win 25-14.

Catessa Duran led the Prairie Fire with eight kills and five blocks. Mady Ferris added 30 digs.

In the afternoon game, Knox took the first two sets from the Highlanders 25-21 and 25-20. However, MacMurray battled back to win the final three sets 25-20, 25-12, 15-10.

Marissa Akers picked up 15 kills to lead the Prairie Fire, while Ferris added 21 digs. Kylie Wolf and Katie Anderson notched 20 and 18 assists, respectively.

"We started the tournament by earning our first winning streak," said head coach Pat Barry. "We faced some adversity, but battled throughout. We are very close and just need to find the consistency that we are capable of."

Knox will travel to Indiana on September 20 to battle Grace Christian and Calumet-St. Joseph.
