Swimming and Diving Teams Compete at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire swimming and diving teams competed at Illinois College on Saturday.

The women's team defeated Principia 94-93 and lost to the Lady Blues 159-57. The men's team fell to Illinois College 298-78 and Principia 166-115.

"I am so happy for our women," said head coach Jonathan Powers. "Every single one of them contributed to scoring points and when you win by one point everyone is needed."

Alyssa Stringer won the women's 50 free (:27.47) and 100 fly (1:07.14).

Joe Pederson took first place in the men's 400 IM with a time of 5:04.07.

Chloe Rodeffer placed second in the women's 100 breast with a time of 1:25.40.

Kiely Thompson finished second in the women's 200 breast (3:05.84)

"I wasn't sure what to expect because we were a little tired and inconsistent in practice this past week but we swam really really well," added Powers. "All but two of our swims were season best times. Our turns need work but that is the coaches fault for not focusing on them in practice."

Knox returns to action on November 6 when they travel to Beloit.
