Swimming and Diving Competes at MWC Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa - The Prairie Fire swimming and diving team competed at the Midwest Conference swimming and diving championships at Grinnell over the weekend.

The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Joe Pederson, Ren Herzog, Frederick Ryan, and Etienne Thomas earned 18 points with a time of 1:45.75. They also teamed up in the men's 400 medley relay team (4:31.48), 200 medley relay (1:56.52), and 400 freestyle relay (3:59.63) to earn another 18 points, 22 points, and 18 points, respectively.

The women's 400 medley relay team of Rachel Schonfeld, Caroline Tieman, Chloe Rodeffer, and Emma Onaga picked up 22 points (5:28.97).

Schonfeld and Rodeffer also teamed up with Kiely Thompson and Natalie Bodenhamer in the women's 200 medley relay (2:40.35) to pick up 18 points.

Thompson, Schonfeld, and Rodeffer teamed up with Karen Espinosa in the women's 800 freestyle relay (10:30.36) to rack up 18 points.

Rodeffer, Tieman, Bodenhamer, and Schonfeld earned 18 points in the women's 400 freestyle relay (4:38.80).

"It was great to see how much we improved over the course of the season," said head coach Kim Schrader. "We had a lot of fun and learned a lot, we are already getting ready to improve even more next season."
