GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team lost to Illinois College 3-0 in their first match since the fall of 2019.

The Lady Blues jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in the first set. Knox narrowed the gap to 16-10, but Illinois College took the first set 25-16.

The Prairie Fire took an early 6-4 lead in the second set, but the Lady Blues rebounded for a 13-8 lead. Knox had a late comeback in the set, but Illinois College won 25-20.

The Prairie Fire took another early 8-5 lead in the third set and led 17-14 late in the set, but the Lady Blues stormed back for another 25-20 victory.

Autumn Schneider led the Prairie Fire with eight kills, Marissa Akers added seven. Katie Anderson tallied 26 assists and Mady Ferris finished with 17 digs.

"It was great to get back out on the court after such a long time between games," said head coach Pat Barry. "We had some moments and we will work to get better in some areas as we get right back after it tomorrow."

Knox travels to Illinois College for a rematch with a pair of matches on March 27.
