GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team begins a new season on September 1 with the goal of earning their sixth trip to the Midwest Conference (MWC) championship tournament. Knox has won four straight MWC Championships and will be fighting for their fifth consecutive title this season.
The Prairie Fire are 59-15-9 over the last three seasons, including a 31-2-4 record in MWC play.
Head coach Taylor Houck said, "We've waited nearly 662 days to get back on Prats and do what we love to do. To say we are feeling grateful would be an understatement. These young women have worked extremely hard this preseason and continue to push each other daily. From the fifth-year students to the first-years, every person on our roster drives this program forward. Every day we aim to hold the rope and I believe this group does that every day and I am excited to see it each and every day this season"
Knox returns the 2018 MWC Newcomer of the Year in Lydia Mitchell. Mitchell returns off a 2019 first-team All-MWC award. In addition to Mitchell, the Prairie Fire return 2019 first-team All-MWC midfielder, Alyx Farris as well as 2018 second-team All-MWC defender, Brooklyn Deming.
The Prairie Fire will face a tough non-conference schedule in the early going of the 2021 season beginning with Millikin University. The Prairie Fire will also square off against Midwest stalwarts IIT, Simpson, and Hope College in the first few weeks.
