ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team split a set of matches in the first day of the Augustana Tournament on Friday.
Knox fell 21-25, 10-25, 9-25 to Coe in the first match of the day before defeating Nebraska Wesleyan 25-22, 25-17, 25-16 in the nightcap.
Catessa Duran led the Prairie Fire with 15 kills. Autumn Schneider added 11 kills. Katie Anderson racked up 39 assists and 23 digs. Emme Patton also chipped in 32 digs.
Duran and Schneider really turned it on against Nebraska Wesleyan with 11 and seven kills, respectively. Allie Dockins also tallied nine kills in the win over the Prairie Wolves.
"We played a very good first set against Coe, but they were a very tough team and took advantage of even the smallest mistake," said head coach Pat Barry. "I was glad to see us bounce back in the second match with a big win. We will head into tomorrow with some confidence."
Knox will square off against Augustana and Wisconsin-Platteville in the final day of the tournament on Saturday.
