DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Prairie Fire track and field teams competed in their first event of the year at St. Ambrose on Saturday.
Meredith Lepper placed fourth in the women's pole vault, clearing 2.40m and claiming a spot on the Knox top-10 list. She also claimed a spot on the top-10 list in the 60m hurdles.
Tara Irani also earned a spot on the top-10 list in the women's 60m hurdles (:12.10).
Thao Luong earned fourth place in the women's triple jump with a leap of 9.23m.
Peyton Balfour cleared the 1.40m mark in the women's high jump to place eighth and earn a spot in the Knox top-10 list.
Derrick Jackson earned a second place finish in the men's 60m dash with a time of :06.91. He also placed fourth in the 200m with a time of :22.70.
Tyrell Pierce claimed a spot in the Knox top-10 list in the men's 60 m dash (:07.29).
Charles Broomfield placed second in the men's weight throw with a heave of 17.51m to earn a new Knox record. He also placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 14.18m.
Kendall Ballman earned sixth place in the men's triple jump with a leap of 12.80m. He also earned a spot in the Knox top-10 list.
AJ Vasquez also claimed a spot on the Knox top-10 list in the triple jump (12.51m).
"It was great to get back to competing," said head coach Evander Wells. "We had a lot of student-athletes competing for the first time as track and field athletes at the college level so it was exciting to see them compete representing Knox. Overall we had a great day, lots of great performances. The team was excited and it shows in today's results."
The Prairie Fire return to action on January 22 as they travel to Illinois College.
