GRINNELL, Iowa – The Midwest Conference (MWC) announced its Performers of the Week award recipients for the week of October 10-16, 2022, on Monday.
MWC sports information directors nominate student-athletes for the Performer of the Week honor by sport and vote as a committee to select the winners.
For the fall season, Performers of the Week will be recognized every week on Monday (football, soccer) and Tuesday (cross country, women's tennis, volleyball) once their seasons have been triggered (three MWC institutions competing) and will conclude the week prior to the sport-specific Conference tournament/championship.
The Prairie Fire Performer of the Week award winners are as follows:
Football Defensive Performer of the Week
Isaac Mora, Knox College
Mora set up two touchdowns for the Prairie Fire in their 28-7 victory over Grinnell on Saturday with a pair of interceptions. He was instrumental in several drives to thwart Grinnell's advances on offense and also had a pass break up and two tackles on the day.
Football Special Teams Performer of the Week
Preston Lade, Knox College
Preston Lade was instrumental in giving Grinnell poor field position all day in a 28-7 victory for the Prairie Fire over the Pioneers on Saturday. He had 4 Punts for 169 yards, a 42.5 average. His longest was 52 yards. Two of the punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, at the 15 and 4 to be exact. He was also a perfect 4-for-4 in extra point attempts.
