Track and Field Competes at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire track and field teams competed at the Jim Green Invite at Illinois College on Saturday.

Autumn Crow earned a second place finish in the women's mile run with a time of 5:52.27. She moved into eighth place on the Knox all-time performance list.

Meredith Lepper placed second in the women's pole vault (2.66m) and fourth in the women's 55m hurdles (:10.25).

Peyton Balfour placed third in the women's long jump with a leap of 4.66m.

Derrick Jackson broke his own Knox record in the men's 55m (:06.37) in the preliminaries and then ran a :06.38 to earn first place in the finals. He also earned a first place finish in the 200m (:22.49).

Tyrell Pierce finished in first place in the men's 400m with a time of :51.04.

Kendall Ballman placed first in the men's long jump with a vault of 6.70m.

Charles Broomfield picked up first place in the men's shot put (14.36m) and second in the weight throw (16.53m).

"We saw a lot of PR's today," said head coach Evander Wells. "It's really great to see the team continuing to improve!"

Knox returns to action on February 12 at Illinois Wesleyan in their final tuneup before the Midwest Conference Championships on February 25 and 26.
