MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Prairie Fire track and field teams kicked off their outdoor season at Cornell on Saturday.
The men's team placed fifth with 55 points and the women's team finished in 11th place with 11.5 points.
Tyrell Pierce placed second in the men's 200m (22.58) and third in the 100m (11.15).
Trevor Geggie finished fourth in the men's 100m with a time of 11.16.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Geggie, Pierce, Yohane Griffin, and Derrick Jackson earned second place (42.64).
Ethan Sena placed second in the men's pole vault, clearing 3.80m.
Charles Broomfield earned third place in the men's hammer with a heave of 46.93m. He also placed fourth in the shot put (13.58m) and discus (41.86m).
Peyton Balfour placed third in the women's triple jump with a leap of 9.99m.
"We had a lot of good performances," said head coach Evander Wells. "I am very pleased with how we came out in the first meet of the spring. We will continue to improve from here."
Knox returns to action as they travel to Mount Mercy on April 9.
