Track and Field Competes at Augustana Last Chance Meet

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The Prairie Fire track and field teams competed at the Augustana Midwest Twilight last chance meet on Thursday.

Tyrell Pierce came into the meet on the bubble for NCAA's. His performance today not only secured him a spot at Nationals, but tied the Knox 400m (47.43) record that has stood for 33 years. Pierce also competed in the 200m (22.02).

"It's an amazing feeling," said Pierce. "I told myself after missing nationals last year by .5 seconds I would not miss another opportunity, so to see the hard work pay off and qualify is unbelievable."

Saxon Alvarez and Autumn Crow both competed in the 3k steeple. Saxon set a season best mark (13:04.00) and Autumn ran a lifetime best (13:18.55).

Kyle Horn ran the 800m (2:11.81) and 5k (19:18.36) to close out his season.

Charles Broomfield took his final throws in the Purple and Gold, ending a stellar Knox career.

"This was a really good meet for the group that competed," said head coach Evander Wells. "Everyone competing had some unfinished business from this season and wanted one more crack at it. We saw some hit their goals and others fall a little short, but they gave it their all and I'm proud of everyone who competed today."
