GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team fell to Lake Forest 3-1 in their conference opener on Friday night.
The Foresters jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first set and held on to win 25-14.
After an early 5-5 tie in the second set, Knox led most of the way until Lake Forest took a late 21-20 lead. The Prairie Fire rallied to win 25-23.
The Foresters took a 13-5 lead early in the third set and finished with a 25-12 victory.
Knox led 5-3 in the fourth set, but Lake Forest reeled of nine straight points to take a 12-5 lead. The Foresters held on to win 25-15.
Allie Dockins led the Prairie Fire with seven kills. Peyton Balfour racked up six blocks. Emme Patton tallied 14 assists and 10 digs. Maya McEwen added 13 digs, five service aces, four kills, and two blocks for a well-rounded performance.
"We got a lot of players involved tonight," said interim head coach Lisa Olson. "It was great to see Molly Biggs and Lydia Karli step in and have success tonight on top of some of the usual top performers."
Knox will return to action on September 30 as they host Lawrence for another conference match.
