GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference announced its weekly awards in football this afternoon, and Knox College first-year Jayvon Bolds was revealed as the Special Teams Performer of the Week in football. This is the second weekly honor in this category for the Prairie Fire this season.

Bolds, a native of Richmond, California, stayed busy as the kickoff returner for Knox against Illinois College this past Saturday, tying one program record with nine returns while shattering another with 257 return yards. All but one of his returns went for at least 20 yards, and he saved his best for a last, a 66-yard scurry down the right sideline that nearly took him to the end zone but still set up the Prairie Fire's final touchdown of the day.

The previous record was 225 yards set by Mike Schroeder (also on nine returns) 12 years ago against Eureka College. No other Knox player has ever had more than 200 yards returning kickoffs in a single game.

The Prairie Fire (2-4, 1-4 MWC) will attempt to snap a four-game slide when it hosts Grinnell College (1-5, 1-4 MWC) on Saturday for its homecoming game at Stisser Field at the Knosher Bowl. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. with live video and stats available through PrairieFire.Knox.edu, the official website of Knox College athletics.
