GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference announced its Men's Basketball Performer of the Week award winner today, which went to Knox College senior Sean Gallery. This is the first weekly award of his career from the league office.
A 6-4 guard from Park Ridge, Illinois, Gallery led the Prairie Fire to two victories last week, recording a double-double in each contest. On Tuesday, he poured in 29 points and hauled in 11 rebounds in a 77-59 victory at Westminster College (Mo.) — the first for head coach Corey Harvey and 1,000th in program history — connecting on 11-of-21 field goals with a 3-pointer and 6-of-7 at the foul line. Four days later, the product of Maine South High School dropped 23 points and grabbed a dozen boards against Blackburn College in Knox's home opener, helping the team fend off the Beavers in an 84-80 victory.
Gallery, who needs just 22 points to become the 14th player in Knox men's basketball history to score 1,000, now has six double-doubles, 13 games scoring 20 or more points and 50 games scoring in double figures in his career.
Knox goes back on the road for its next three contests, starting with a trip to Franklin College in Indiana on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (EST) with live video and stats available through PrairieFire.Knox.edu, the official website of Knox College athletics.
