JACKSONVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team picked up a 6-3 victory at Illinois College on Wednesday afternoon.

Knox scored twice in the first inning on a bases loaded walk to Jason Clark and a sacrifice fly from Etienne Thomas.

The Blueboys responded with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Prairie Fire came right back to score two more in the second. Evan Laws scored Parker Engel and Aidan McMurtrie on a single up the middle.

Knox tacked on another run in the third on an RBI groundout from McMurtrie.

Illinois College scratched one run across in the bottom of the third and another in the fifth.

The Prairie Fire scored an insurance run in the ninth on another RBI single from Laws scoring Engel again.

Starting pitcher Caleb Dooley gave up three runs and struck out four in four innings. Tyler Bialek earned the win with four innings of scoreless relief and Brandon Ward nailed down the save in the ninth.

Laws finished with two hits and three RBI to lead Knox. Engel, Clark, Thomas, Andrew Garrett, Nicholas Nitti, Henry Scholes, and Tyler Kemp each added a hit.

The Prairie Fire will return to action on April 27 as they travel to Cornell for a doubleheader.
