GALESBURG, Ill. — The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their Academic All-District selections for men's basketball on Tuesday, and Knox College junior Cole Andrews was among the honorees. The CSC Academic All-America prgroam separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III, as well as NAIA.
A data science and economics double major, Andrews started 24 of the 25 games this past winter, averaging 9.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, figures that ranked seconds and third among the Prairie Fire players, respectively. The 6-5 forward from Rochester, New York, also led the team in 3-pointers made (38) and free throw percentage (.793). He scored in double figures a dozen times during the season with a career-high 21 points at Grinnell in the Midwest Conference opener on Dec. 3.
Andrews has been named to the Academic All-Midwest Conference Winter Team in each of his first two campaigns and is expected to receive the honor again when the teams are announced at the end of the school year.
To be eligible for inclusion on the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 and have either played in 90 percent of the team's games or started two-thirds of the games.
