Knox Comes Home With a Four-Set Win Over Dominican

MILWAUKEE, WI. - In a two day span, the Prairie Fire hit the court four times, taking on some solid competition and brought home a victory in their final game for their first win of the season.

After three games at the Raider Invite, Knox hit the court for the fourth and final time of the road trip. They took advantage of 12 errors from the Stars in the first set on their way to a 25-17 win, gaining a 1-0 advantage over Dominican.

In the second set, the Prairie Fire had a .281 attacking percentage as they racked up 13 kills in the set. Maria Jabor John and Mayra Diaz led the Prairie Fire in the contest, both with double-digit kills. They went on to win the second set 25-19.

Knox held a 20-19 lead in the third, but Dominican went on a 6-1 run to end the set, forcing a fourth.

The fourth set was back-and-forth throughout until Knox went on a three point run in the late stages to help boost them to a 25-21 set win and 3-1 match win.

Lynn Hoang defensive efforts did not go unnoticed in the win as she tallied 12 digs. On the offensive end, Jabor John and Diaz had great games, coming off of 17 assists from Bri Holland.

The Prairie Fire have had a difficult start to the 2026 campaign, playing nine games on the road before competing at Memorial Gymnasium, and playing some pretty tough competition in those games.

Knox played a stellar game against Dominican, putting everything together for all 25 points in the sets. Prior to their win, they played plenty of neck-and-neck sets but struggled to close them out.

Zoe Thunhurst had a huge game against Marian, leading the team in kills, digs, and assists.

The Prairie Fire lost the other three games in the Raider Invite, all by way of 3-0 scores.

Knox will finally return home to play on campus on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m. against Eureka.
